Add AEAD (AES-CCM) authenticated encryption for PSK channels (#9749)
* Add AEAD (AES-CCM) authenticated encryption for PSK channels Extend PSK channel encryption with optional AES-CCM authenticated encryption (use_aead flag in ChannelSettings). When enabled, messages include a 12-byte authentication tag that prevents forgery, bit-flipping, and injection attacks by anyone with the channel PSK. Changes: - Add encryptPacketCCM/decryptPacketCCM to CryptoEngine with key promotion (16-byte keys zero-padded to 32 for AESSmall256 compat) - Move AES-CCM primitives (aes-ccm.h/cpp, aesSetKey, aesEncrypt) outside PKI guard so they're available unconditionally - Add isAEADEnabled() to Channels with hash differentiation (XOR 0xAE) - Add AEAD encrypt/decrypt branches in Router perhapsEncode/perhapsDecode with no CTR fallback on AEAD channels - Add use_aead field to channel.pb.h (bool, tag 8) - Add MESHTASTIC_AEAD_OVERHEAD constant to RadioInterface.h - Add comprehensive test suite: round-trip (AES-128/256), tamper detection (ciphertext, tag, sweep), wrong PSK, wrong sender, packet-too-small, deterministic output verification Addresses firmware#4030. * Apply clang-format to match project style * Guard AEAD path against empty PSK and check encrypt return value - Add early return in encryptPacketCCM/decryptPacketCCM when psk.length == 0, preventing null dereference in aesSetKey - Check encryptPacketCCM return value in Router::perhapsEncode (both PKI and non-PKI paths), returning BAD_REQUEST on failure instead of silently transmitting corrupt packets - Add unit test for empty PSK (encrypt and decrypt must return false without crashing) * Use true AES-128 for 16-byte PSKs instead of promoting to AES-256 aesSetKey now dispatches based on key length: 16 bytes creates AESSmall128, 32 bytes creates AESSmall256. The aes member type changes from AESSmall256 to BlockCipher (polymorphic base class). This removes the unnecessary key promotion that added two extra AES rounds (14 vs 12) with no security benefit since the entropy stays at 128 bits for 16-byte keys. encryptPacketCCM/decryptPacketCCM now pass psk.length directly to aes_ccm_ae/aes_ccm_ad instead of promoting to 32. New tests: ECB AES-128 with NIST vectors, AEAD test verifying AES-128 and AES-256 produce different ciphertexts with same key material and cross-key decryption fails. * Reject the invalid-key sentinel in the AEAD paths CryptoKey documents length == -1 as "invalid key - do not use", but the AEAD guards only tested for 0. Since length is int8_t and the aes_ccm_* key length parameter is size_t, a -1 would widen into a huge unsigned length and be handed to the cipher instead of being rejected. Both callers in Router.cpp are gated on a non-negative channel hash, and generateHash() already returns -1 exactly when getKey() yields an invalid key, so the sentinel cannot reach these functions today. Guard against it anyway rather than relying on callers to keep that invariant. * Tie MESHTASTIC_AEAD_OVERHEAD to CryptoEngine::AEAD_TAG_SIZE The packet-size boundary checks in perhapsEncode/perhapsDecode budget for MESHTASTIC_AEAD_OVERHEAD, but the tag actually written is AEAD_TAG_SIZE. Nothing tied the two together, so changing one would have silently produced oversized packets or truncated payloads. Assert they match instead of coupling RadioInterface.h to CryptoEngine. Also trims the sentinel comment to the two-line limit in AGENTS.md. * Add RFC 3610 known-answer vectors and widen the tamper sweep Packet Vectors #1, #2 and #7 pin aes_ccm_ae()/aes_ccm_ad() to published data rather than to their own output, covering M=8 and M=10, a trailing partial block in every case, and rejection of a modified AAD. Test 1 in test_AES_CCM_AEAD is relabelled as the smoke test it actually is. The per-byte tamper loop now walks the whole buffer including the tag, instead of only the first four ciphertext bytes. * Cover the second nonce input and tighten the AEAD test buffers Test 10 only ever varied fromNode, leaving packetId — the other half of the nonce — unexercised. It now checks each one wrong on its own, both wrong, and both right, so the negative assertions cannot pass vacuously. The undersized-packet test wrote into a one-byte buffer and only survived because decryptPacketCCM() returns before touching it; size it for the whole input so a regressed length guard fails an assertion instead of the stack. Also assert makePsk() cannot overrun CryptoKey::bytes. * Rewrite Unicode dashes to ASCII in AEAD comments The ascii-dash formatter that landed in develop rewrites U+2014/U+2013 to an ASCII hyphen. Three files on this branch still carried em dashes in comments, so Trunk Check went red once develop was merged in. Comments only, no code change. * Authenticate sender and destination IDs as AEAD associated data The nonce binds the sender and the packet id, but nothing bound the destination, so `to` could be rewritten in flight and the tag would still validate. Pass `from || to` as associated data to aes_ccm_ae/aes_ccm_ad so a redirected packet fails authentication. The hop fields stay out of the AAD on purpose: relays legitimately rewrite hop_limit, hop_start, relay_node and next_hop. Adds a sub-test covering redirection to another node and promotion of a unicast to a broadcast; both must be rejected, and the unmodified destination must still round-trip. This changes the on-the-wire format for AEAD packets. Nothing ships with use_aead yet, so there is no deployed traffic to stay compatible with. * fix(crypto): repair EXCLUDE_PKI builds and guard AEAD channel config aes-ccm.cpp is compiled in every build now and calls CryptoEngine::aesSetKey and CryptoEngine::aesEncrypt, whose definitions were still inside the !(MESHTASTIC_EXCLUDE_PKI) block in CryptoEngine.cpp, so MESHTASTIC_EXCLUDE_PKI=1 failed at the link step. Move both definitions outside the guard, and move the pending-public-key declarations back inside it next to the fields they read. fixupChannel() clears use_aead on a channel that resolves to no key material. That combination kept a valid-looking channel hash while every encode returned BAD_REQUEST and every decode dropped, with nothing in the config to show why. encryptPacketCCM/decryptPacketCCM are virtual, so a platform engine can back them with hardware CCM the way it already overrides encryptAESCtr. perhapsEncode() carries one copy of the AEAD/CTR branch instead of an identical copy in each arm of the MESHTASTIC_EXCLUDE_PKI ifdef. Tests: three use_aead cases in test_channel_keys covering the hash split, the no-key clear, and a secondary that borrows the primary's key. * fix(crypto): move CryptoEngine::hash out of the PKI guard hash() is plain SHA256, and PortduinoGlue calls it unguarded to derive a MAC address from the CH341 serial, so MESHTASTIC_EXCLUDE_PKI=1 failed to compile. With this and the previous commit that build links clean. * fix(channels): resolve primaryIndex before hashing in onConfigChanged A keyless secondary resolves its key through primaryIndex, so fixing up channels in the same pass that finds the primary hashed the early slots against the previous one and cleared their use_aead against a key they do in fact inherit. Split the pass, and re-run the fixups in the no-primary restore path, which moves the primary after the fact. Also splits the thirteen AES-CCM AEAD scenarios into separate test functions so a Unity failure names the one that broke. * chore(crypto): trim the AEAD maintainer commits Shortens three comments that outgrew the one-to-two line house rule, drops a truncated sentence and the braces around a single return in perhapsEncode(), and removes a channel test that the moved-primary regression test already covers. No behaviour change. --------- Co-authored-by: Thomas Göttgens <tgoettgens@gmail.com> |

Honor mute when waking the screen for a received message (#11688)
* fix(ui): honor mute when waking the screen for a received message TextMessageModule fired powerFSM.trigger(EVENT_RECEIVED_MSG) for every text packet, gated only by shouldWakeOnReceivedMessage(), which checks external notification, device role and battery level but never the mute flags. A muted channel therefore suppressed the banner and still lit the screen. MessageRenderer::handleNewMessage() only computed mute for MessageType::BROADCAST, so a DM from a muted node produced a banner and a wake. Add isMutedForPacket() in Channels: a DM addressed to us reads the sender's NodeInfoLite mute bit, every other packet reads the mute bit of the channel it arrived on. This is the predicate ExternalNotificationModule already applied to the buzzer, vibra and LED outputs, hoisted so all three call sites share it. Bell and alert messages still break through mute on both paths, unchanged. No protobuf or config change: ChannelSettings.module_settings.is_muted and the NodeInfoLite mute bit already exist and are already settable from the device menu and via AdminMessage.toggle_muted_node. Closes #11674 * fix(ui): let an alert break through mute on the screen wake path In COLOR display mode TextMessageModule skips handleNewMessage(), so powerFSM.trigger(EVENT_RECEIVED_MSG) is the only wake an alert gets. Gating it on mute alone dropped that wake for a bell on a muted channel. Add MeshService::isAlertPayload(): an ASCII BEL in the payload while at least one alert_bell_* output is enabled. The wake gate is now "not muted, or an alert". MessageRenderer uses the same predicate instead of its own inline bell scan, which also lifts that scan's arbitrary 100 byte cap. Rename three test cases. Their names carried exactly 35 characters after the test_ prefix, which matches the Lob API key format and tripped trufflehog in the trunk check gate. |

Extend userPrefs coverage to the whole channel table and the missing config fields (#11624)
* Extend userPrefs coverage to the whole channel table and the missing config fields initDefaultChannel() handled only indices 0-2, so USERPREFS_CHANNELS_TO_WRITE above 3 produced live secondary channels carrying the public default PSK; it now covers all eight slots, with bin/platformio-custom.py completing every field of a configured index so indices 0-2 stay byte-identical. Adds USERPREFS_CHANNEL_<n>_IS_MUTED, USERPREFS_CONFIG_DEVICE_REBROADCAST_MODE, USERPREFS_CONFIG_DEVICE_NODE_INFO_BROADCAST_SECS, USERPREFS_CONFIG_LORA_CONFIG_OK_TO_MQTT, USERPREFS_CONFIG_SECURITY_IS_MANAGED and USERPREFS_CANNED_MESSAGES, applied after installRoleDefaults() and validated the way AdminModule validates a set-config. Adds test_userprefs_channels, covering the configured table under coverage-channel-table and the stock defaults under every other env. * Address review: hex channel count, PSK width assert, canned-message termination USERPREFS_CHANNELS_TO_WRITE now parses 0x-prefixed hex, matching the format userPrefs.jsonc documents, without int(x, 0)'s rejection of a leading-zero decimal such as "03". A static_assert rejects a USERPREFS_CHANNEL_<n>_PSK literal wider than psk.bytes, which memcpy would otherwise write over the fields after it. The USERPREFS_CANNED_MESSAGES copy keeps strncpy's zero-padding and terminates explicitly, rather than shortening the length, which would have left the last byte unwritten. |

feat(config): make position & telemetry broadcast opt-in (#10929)
Position sharing was opt-out (the default primary channel shipped position_precision=13) while device telemetry was already opt-in, and a normal firmware upgrade preserves saved config, so existing nodes stayed position-on. This makes both broadcasts opt-in, both on a fresh flash and via a one-time migration for upgrading nodes. - Fresh default: initDefaultChannel now sets position_precision=0. - One-time migration in loadFromDisk, gated on a dedicated POSITION_TELEMETRY_OPTIN_VER (26) watermark kept separate from DEVICESTATE_CUR_VER (bumping that would re-run the NodeDatabase v24 legacy decoder on already-migrated v25 DBs): disables position broadcast on PUBLIC/default-PSK channels and forces every device-telemetry mesh-broadcast flag plus the MQTT map-report location off. - Private-PSK channels are left untouched: a channel with a custom key is a deliberate trusted-group setup, so its configured precision is preserved. - Idempotent: ordinary saves never re-stamp .version, so a user who re-enables sharing is not re-disabled on the next boot. - Added pure channelFileUsesPublicKey() (operates on the raw ChannelFile, since the channels singleton isn't initialized during loadFromDisk) and refactored Channels::usesPublicKey() to delegate to it. - New test/test_optin_migration native suite (14 cases). |

More fuzz tests and small fixes for the findings (#10864)
* first pass tests * more tests * Fix two crafted-admin-packet crashes found by the E5 fuzzer Both are reachable from an authorized admin (local from==0, admin channel, or PKC) - remote DoS: 1. SIGFPE in LoRa config validation. A set_config LoRaConfig with use_preset=false and bandwidth=0 makes freqSlotWidth 0, so numFreqSlots is 0 and `hash(name) % numFreqSlots` (RadioInterface.cpp) divides by zero. Guard the modulo; the existing channel_num check then rejects/ clamps the config. 2. Stack overflow in Channels::getKey. A SECONDARY channel at the primary slot with an empty PSK recursed into getKey(primaryIndex) forever. Skip the primary-key borrow when chIndex == primaryIndex. Re-enable the E5 admin fuzzer to hit both triggers again (use_preset both ways incl. bandwidth 0, plus the set_channel tag) as regression guards. Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5 <noreply@anthropic.com> * Correct fuzz-test invariants after the crash fixes - E5 admin fuzz: node eviction under a filling NodeDB is legitimate, so assert only the bounded-count invariant, not that a specific seed node survives 6000 mutating ops. - TMM blitz: scope off the nodeinfo direct-response send path (it needs a fully-wired MeshService/phone queue the fixture doesn't provide; the deterministic directResponse tests cover it). The crafted-nodenum rate/unknown/position cache stress is unchanged. clod helped too * realistic tests * test: dedup fuzz RNG into shared test/support/DeterministicRng.h The four in-tree fuzz suites (test_fuzz_decode, test_fuzz_packets, test_hop_scaling, test_traffic_management) each carried a byte-identical copy of the seeded 64-bit LCG (rngSeed/rngNext/rngByte/rngRange). Hoist it into one shared header so there is a single generator to reason about and no risk of the copies drifting. static inline keeps per-suite state per translation unit and avoids -Wunused-function for suites that don't use every helper. Also corrects a stale comment in test_traffic_management (the blitz's nodeinfo direct-response path is intentionally left off). No behavioral change: same constants, same per-suite seeds. clod helped too * test: fuzz uncovered ProtobufModule handlers and the MQTT downlink ingress Extend the in-tree fuzz coverage to packet sources that previously had none: - test_fuzz_packets E8/E9/E10: drive PositionModule, DeviceTelemetryModule and NeighborInfoModule at handleReceivedProtobuf directly (via using-shims, bypassing the ProtobufModule reply/send path so no router is needed). The fixture already stands up nodeDB/service/channels, and nodeStatus/powerStatus are auto-initialized in main.cpp, so no new globals are required. Adds a shared fuzzRxHeader() helper for crafting adversarial RX packet headers. - test_fuzz_decode: add meshtastic_KeyVerification to the decode table. The KeyVerification and StoreForward handler paths are documented as decode-level only, with the concrete reason each is intrinsic (private-state gating / PSRAM + self-pointer wiring), not a fixture gap. - test_mqtt: test_receiveFuzzServiceEnvelope blitzes the non-RF broker-push ingress (onReceiveProto) two ways - raw garbage bytes that must fail envelope decode cleanly, and a well-formed ServiceEnvelope wrapping a crafted inner MeshPacket over crafted channel_id/gateway_id - exercising the channel match, isFromUs, XEdDSA receive policy and perhapsDecode chain. Adds a deliverRaw() passthrough to MQTTUnitTest. All under the coverage env (ASan/LSan). No firmware/src changes. Full sweep GREEN 27/27, 544 cases. clod helped too * Harden LoRa/channel config against crafted admin messages; consolidate test helpers Production (review findings on the hot-fuzz crash fixes): - Clamp bandwidth at the source (clampBandwidthKHz) in checkOrClampConfigLora and applyModemConfig so numFreqSlots can never be 0 for any consumer; a bandwidth-0 set_config previously passed validation and re-armed the SIGFPE on the next applyModemConfig. - Guard applyModemConfig's hash % numFreqSlots (the validator's sibling modulo was fixed earlier but this one was still unguarded). - Enforce the primary-channel invariant in Channels::onConfigChanged: a config demoting every slot now re-promotes the stale SECONDARY slot (keeping its key) or restores the default channel if the slot is DISABLED, instead of leaving every getPrimaryIndex() reader on a non-primary slot. The getKey recursion guard stays as defense-in-depth. Tests: - New test/support/MockMeshService.h and AdminModuleTestShim.h replace four byte-identical mocks and three divergent admin shims (test_mqtt's capturing mock is genuinely different and stays). - DeterministicRng.h: add rngFill() (replaces 14 hand-rolled fill loops) and rngEdgeNodeNum() (unifies the three NodeNum boundary pools). - Extract fuzzChannelSettings() shared by the set_channel case and fuzzBeacon. - fuzzBeacon: the un-terminated branch now fills the whole buffer with non-NUL bytes so the strnlen bound is actually stressed (~50% of iterations, not ~4%). - E6 beacon fuzz: replace the TEST_ASSERT_TRUE(true) tautology with real invariants (handler never consumes; offers land in lastReceivedOffer keyed to the sender). - Trim the seven over-long comment blocks flagged against the 1-2 line rule; the FINDINGS trailer moves to this commit message (see production notes). Full native suite GREEN 27/27 under the coverage (ASan/LSan) env. Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5 <noreply@anthropic.com> * Clamp UTF-8 char length in the emote walkers; add test_fuzz_emotes A TEXT_MESSAGE payload is opaque protobuf bytes, so PB_VALIDATE_UTF8 never screens it - invalid UTF-8 and truncated multi-byte lead bytes reach the emote/width render path verbatim. EmoteRenderer's walkers advanced by utf8CharLen(lead) without clamping to the bytes actually remaining, so a truncated lead (e.g. a lone 0xF0, which claims 4 bytes) near the end of the buffer made getUtf8ChunkWidth's memcpy read past the string. ASan confirms a heap-buffer-overflow READ from measureStringWithEmotes. Add utf8CharLenClamped() and use it at every walk site (width measure, truncation cut-loop, and the draw-path text-run/chunk builders); the one already-guarded site (matchAtIgnoringModifiers) is unchanged. New test/test_fuzz_emotes drives measureStringWithEmotes and truncateToWidth over adversarial byte strings (biased to embed/end in truncated multi-byte leads) in exact-sized heap buffers so any over-read is a hard ASan fault. Its headless display uses a synthetic font (firstChar 0, fontData centered in a large buffer) so the stock OLEDDisplay::getStringWidth - which indexes the font jump table with a signed char and over-reads for any byte >= 0x80 - does not mask the finding. native-suite-count bumped 27 -> 28. Full native suite GREEN 28/28 under the coverage (ASan/LSan) env. Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5 <noreply@anthropic.com> * Keep emote width measurement in-bounds for non-ASCII bytes OLEDDisplay::getStringWidth (the utf8=false path EmoteRenderer uses on default builds) indexes the font jump table by (c - firstChar) with a signed char and no bounds check, so any byte outside printable ASCII - high bytes from UTF-8 text, but also a stray control byte like 0x0A - reads outside the font array. On-device this reads adjacent flash and returns a garbage width; under ASan the test_fuzz_emotes fuzzer flags it as a global-buffer-overflow, and it made the non-ASCII width measurement meaningless either way. The OLED driver is a pinned upstream dependency, so guard it firmware-side in EmoteRenderer's getStringWidth helper: measure a sanitized copy where any byte outside [0x20, 0x7E] counts as a '?' placeholder. Printable ASCII is unchanged and the UA/RU lookup path is untouched. test_fuzz_emotes now drives a real ArialMT font instead of the synthetic in-bounds font it needed before this fix, so the suite exercises the true production width path (utf8CharLen clamp + this sanitizer) end to end. The same fuzzer tripped the global-buffer-overflow before this change. Full native suite GREEN 28/28 under the coverage (ASan/LSan) env. Traffic Management module: dedup, rate limiting, role-aware policing (#10706)
Adds the Traffic Management module (TMM) plus the NodeDB/warm-store and next-hop foundations it builds on: - Unified per-node cache (flat array, 8-bit relative ticks) shared by all features; role-aware throttles for tracker / lost-and-found. - Position deduplication: drop unchanged position rebroadcasts within a configurable interval; precision driven off the channel ceiling (clamped to the public-key max on well-known channels). Enabled by default at 11h. - Per-node rate limiting and unknown-packet filtering (config-driven; a non-zero companion field enables each feature -- no bool toggles). - NodeInfo direct response from cache with role-based hop clamps. - Persistent next-hop overflow store: confirmed hops have no TTL, are seeded from NodeInfoLite at boot, and survive hot-store eviction. - Three-tier sender-role resolution (hot NodeInfoLite -> warm store -> TMM cache). Role is cached write-time (seeded on first track, refreshed from NodeInfo), pins its cache entry like a next-hop hint, and is evicted last. - Warm store caches device role + protected category across reboot/eviction. - PositionModule stationary floor for tracker / lost-and-found. - PSRAM gating for warm/satellite/TMM cache sizes; STM32WL excluded. Protobufs: TrafficManagementConfig trimmed to the five uint32 fields actually used; submodule repointed to protobufs develop. Co-authored-by: Claude Sonnet 4.6 <noreply@anthropic.com> |

feat: add Nordic nRF54L15-DK variant (Zephyr + BLE + LoRa) (#10193)
* feat: add Nordic nRF54L15-DK variant (Zephyr + BLE + LoRa)
Adds a community hardware variant for the Nordic nRF54L15-DK (PCA10156)
with an external EBYTE E22-900M30S (SX1262) LoRa module. First Meshtastic
port running on the Zephyr RTOS; all other Nordic targets use the nRF5
SoftDevice stack.
Scope
-----
- New Zephyr-based platform layer under src/platform/nrf54l15/ providing
Arduino-compatible shims (Arduino.h, SPI, Wire, Print, Stream) over the
Zephyr APIs plus a LittleFS-backed InternalFileSystem on SPIM20.
- Bluetooth LE peripheral (NRF54L15Bluetooth.*) built on the Zephyr BT
host stack, exposing the Meshtastic GATT service with legacy
connectable advertising, just-works pairing, dynamic MTU exchange
(up to 247 bytes), and iOS connection-parameter tweaks.
- Variant directory variants/nrf54l15/nrf54l15dk/ with pin map for the
E22 module on connector J1, PlatformIO env (nrf54l15dk), Zephyr
DT overlay and a wiring README.
- Zephyr project config (zephyr/prj.conf + board overlay) tuned for
BT + LoRa: 16 KB main stack, 4 KB BT RX thread, RTT logging in
immediate mode, newlib-nano heap sized to leave room for the GATT
pools while still allowing ATT MTU=247.
- extra_scripts/nrf54l15_linker.py works around a PlatformIO + old Ninja
issue where Zephyr's two-pass linker script generation does not run
automatically; the post-script parses build.ninja and invokes the
gcc -E step directly before the final link.
- boards/nrf54l15dk.json board definition (PlatformIO needs it for the
DK; the Seeed platform only ships the XIAO variants).
- variants/rp2350/rp2350.ini excludes platform/nrf54l15/ from RP2350
build_src_filter so the shared platform tree does not leak between
targets.
- .gitignore: add nRF J-Link / RTT debug artifacts (flash.jlink,
rtt_*.txt).
Shared source changes
---------------------
- src/main.{cpp,h}, src/RedirectablePrint.cpp, src/FSCommon.{cpp,h},
src/mesh/{Channels,NodeDB,RadioLibInterface,MeshService,PhoneAPI}.cpp,
src/mesh/RadioLibInterface.h, src/modules/AdminModule.cpp: add small
guards / helpers so the Zephyr build compiles alongside the Arduino
targets. Behavior on existing boards is unchanged.
Hardware model
--------------
HW_VENDOR maps to meshtastic_HardwareModel_PRIVATE_HW until a dedicated
protobuf enum value is assigned upstream. The variant declares
custom_meshtastic_hw_model = 132 so the maintainers can wire the new
enum value through the protobufs repo after merge.
Hardware note
-------------
The E22-900M30S does not connect its DIO2 pin to TXEN internally — a
wire/solder bridge between DIO2 and TXEN on the module is required for
TX to work. Details and full pin map are in the variant README.
Validation
----------
Built clean against develop. On real hardware (April 2026) the port
passes end-to-end: iOS companion app pairs and connects, configuration
round-trip works, LoRa TX/RX reaches a canonical tbeam on the same mesh
channel, NodeDB updates propagate both ways, and traceroute completes.
* fix(nrf54l15): use atomic fs_rename instead of copy fallback
Zephyr LittleFS on nrf54l15 supports fs_rename natively, so route it
through the same atomic path as ESP32. The previous copyFile+remove
fallback truncated the destination before copying, leaving 0-byte files
if interrupted mid-write.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.7 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>
* fix(nrf54l15): expand storage_partition from 36KB to 700KB
LittleFS on the default 9-block (36KB) storage_partition ran out of
space during copy-on-write of config.proto, causing fs_write to return
ENOSPC and pb_encode to surface "io error" when saving configuration
via the mobile app.
Reclaim slot1_partition (the MCUboot secondary slot — unused since we
flash directly via J-Link) and grow storage_partition to span
0xb6000..0x165000 (~175 blocks).
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.7 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>
* fix(nrf54l15): drop USERPREFS_LORACONFIG_* so LoRa config stays mutable
NodeDB rewrites LoRa config from USERPREFS_LORACONFIG_* on every boot,
which prevented reconfiguration via the BLE/serial app. Drop the
variant-level defaults; users configure region and modem preset through
the app like every other variant.

* fix(nrf54l15): enforce MITM passkey pairing on GATT service
- Add MESH_PERM_READ/MESH_PERM_WRITE macros (READ_AUTHEN/WRITE_AUTHEN)
on all mesh service characteristics so clients must complete passkey
exchange before accessing fromNum/fromRadio/toRadio/logRadio.
- Wire FIXED_PIN mode to bt_passkey_set() so the device advertises a
known PIN (config.bluetooth.fixed_pin); RANDOM_PIN keeps default
per-pairing random passkey.
- Reduce BleDeferredThread HARD_WATCHDOG_MS from 3min to 1min.
- prj.conf: CONFIG_BT_SMP_ENFORCE_MITM=y, CONFIG_BT_FIXED_PASSKEY=y,
CONFIG_BT_SMP_SC_PAIR_ONLY=n (legacy fallback for clients that abort
SC pairing with reason 0x01 within 150ms).
* fix(nrf54l15): resolve develop-merge conflict + cppcheck warnings
The `Merge branch 'develop'` left two ~RadioLibInterface() declarations
in src/mesh/RadioLibInterface.h: the inline version added upstream by
PR #10254 (which independently applied the same UAF guard this PR was
carrying) and the out-of-line version this PR introduced. GCC rejects
the duplicate, breaking every platform build. Drop the out-of-line
declaration + definition; keep upstream's inline form.
Also silence the 13 cppcheck low warnings introduced by the new
nrf54l15 Arduino shim — Arduino's `String`/`SPISettings` API contract
relies on implicit single-arg constructors used pervasively by
existing Meshtastic code, so suppress `noExplicitConstructor` inline
with a comment instead of breaking the API. The few mechanical wins
(`const tmp[2]`, `const uint32_t *sp`) are applied directly.
* fmt: fix Trunk Check lint issues on nrf54l15-port
- extra_scripts/nrf54l15_linker.py: move regular imports above
Import("env") to silence E402, add trunk-ignore-all(F821) for the
PIO/SCons SConstruct injection (matches esp32_pre.py / nrf52_extra.py
convention)
- src/platform/nrf54l15/NRF54L15Bluetooth.cpp: clang-format 16.0.3
- boards/nrf54l15dk.json + variants/nrf54l15/nrf54l15dk/README.md:
prettier 3.8.3 (also resolves markdownlint MD060 on README tables)
No behavior change.

* fix(nrf54l15): address Copilot review comments + correct clang-format style
Six review threads from the 2026-04-30 Copilot review:
- src/platform/nrf54l15/nrf54l15_main.cpp: validate PSP against the nRF54L15
SRAM range (0x20000000..0x20040000) and 4-byte alignment before walking the
faulting thread's stack, and clamp the walk so it never reads past the end
of RAM. Prevents a second fault inside the fatal handler when PSP is
corrupted (common in real faults).
- src/platform/nrf54l15/nrf54l15_arduino.cpp: gate the bring-up printk traces
in digitalWrite/digitalRead (CS/NRESET toggle log, BUSY-before-NRESET
snapshot, BUSY periodic timeline) behind a new -DNRF54L15_GPIO_DEBUG flag
that is off by default. The "dev NOT READY" message stays unconditional —
it indicates a genuine hardware/DTS misconfig.
- src/modules/AdminModule.cpp: don't mutate config.device.output_gpio_enabled
from handleGetConfig(). Reflect the live pin state in the response payload
only — a getter must not write back to disk-persisted state.
- src/platform/nrf54l15/InternalFileSystem.h: derive totalBytes() from
FIXED_PARTITION_SIZE(storage_partition) at compile time so it tracks the
DK overlay's ~700 KB partition instead of the stale 36 KB hard-coded value.
Updated the file header comment accordingly.
- extra_scripts/nrf54l15_linker.py: make _extract_gcc_command() handle the
POSIX Ninja COMMAND format (no `cmd.exe /C "..."` wrapper) in addition to
the Windows form, so the script doesn't hard-fail on Linux/macOS hosts.
- src/platform/nrf54l15/NRF54L15Bluetooth.cpp: clamp NO_PIN to RANDOM_PIN
with a one-shot LOG_WARN. The mesh GATT permissions are declared with
BT_GATT_PERM_*_AUTHEN and prj.conf sets CONFIG_BT_SMP_ENFORCE_MITM=y, so
NO_PIN with no auth callbacks would leave every characteristic returning
BT_ATT_ERR_AUTHENTICATION. Falling back to RANDOM_PIN keeps the link
usable instead of silently broken. Also re-formatted this file with the
project's .trunk/configs/.clang-format (Linux braces, 4-space indent,
130-col) — the previous lint-fix commit

avoid memory leak when possibly malformed packet received (#9781)
getByIndex allocates memory and returns dummy channel whenever chIndex validation fails. Comment implies this may happen when malformed packet is received. The fix changes implementation so static dummyChannel is returned in such case. Co-authored-by: Ben Meadors <benmmeadors@gmail.com> |

Revert "add a .clang-format file (#9154)" (#9172)
I thought git would be smart enough to understand all the whitespace changes but even with all the flags I know to make it ignore theses it still blows up if there are identical changes on both sides.
I have a solution but it require creating a new commit at the merge base for each conflicting PR and merging it into develop.
I don't think blowing up all PRs is worth for now, maybe if we can coordinate this for V3 let's say.
