From a parallel session. Inset content is the default: navigation sits on the window background and the explorer renders as an inset sheet. Settings > Appearance > Layout retains the floating-panels mode. Both modes share mounted content and stable preview hosts through a shell geometry context, the layout preference propagates to other windows on the same origin, and the sidebar footer returns to circular Activity and Settings controls with the activity count and busy indicator. Preview and Size view follow the sheet bounds, with Size thumbnails in container coordinates.
