This is a guide to install <span class='code'>weewx</span> from RPM package on systems such as SuSE or OpenSUSE. The installation will result in the following layout:

Download the package <span class='code'>weewx-X.Y.Z-R.rpm</span> from <a href="http://sourceforge.net/projects/weewx/files">Sourceforge</a>.

</p>

<h3>Install</h3>
|
|
<p>
|
|
Install pre-requisites:
|
|
</p>
|
|
<p class='tty'>sudo zypper install python-configobj
|
|
sudo zypper install python-cheetah
|
|
sudo zypper install python-imaging
|
|
sudo zypper install python-serial
|
|
sudo zypper install python-usb
|
|
</p>
|
|
<p>
|
|
Install by double-clicking the .rpm file, or via command line:
|
|
</p>
|
|
<p class='tty'>sudo rpm -i weewx-X.Y.Z-R.rpm</p>
|
|
|
|
<h3>Verify</h3>
|
|
<p>
|
|
After 5 minutes, open the station web page in a web browser. You should see generic station information and data.
|
|
</p>
|
|

<h3>Status</h3>
|
|
<p>
|
|
Look in the system log for messages from <span class='code'>weewx</span>.
|
|
</p>
|
|
<p class='tty'>sudo tail -f /var/log/messages</p>
|
|
|
|
<h3>Configure</h3>
|
|
<p>
|
|
The default installation uses Simulator as the <span class='code'>station_type</span>. This should be changed to the actual weather station type. Edit the configuration file <span class='code'>/etc/weewx/weewx.conf</span>. Set at least the following:
|
|
</p>
|
|
<ul>
|
|
<li>location</li>
|
|
<li>latitude</li>
|
|
<li>longitude</li>
|
|
<li>altitude</li>
|
|
<li>station_type</li>
|
|
</ul>
|
|
<p>
|
|
Also set any parameters specific to the station, such as the <span class='code'>port</span> for stations connected via serial port.
|
|
</p>
|
|
<p>
|
|
<span class='code'>weewx</span> must be restarted for configuration file
|
|
changes to take effect.
|
|
</p>
|
|
|
|
<h3>Start/Stop</h3>
|
|
<p>To start/stop <span class='code'>weewx</span>:</p>
|
|
<p class='tty'>sudo /etc/init.d/weewx start
|
|
sudo /etc/init.d/weewx stop
|
|
</p>
|
|
|
|
<h3>Customize</h3>
|
|
<p>
|
|
To enable uploads such as Weather Underground or to customize reports, modify the configuration file <span class='code'>/etc/weewx.conf</span>. See the <a href="usersguide.htm">User Guide</a> and <a href="customizing.htm">Customization Guide</a> for details.
|
|
</p>
|
|
<p>
|
|
<span class='code'>weewx</span> must be restarted for configuration file
|
|
changes to take effect.
|
|
</p>
|
|
|
|
<h3>Uninstall</h3>
|
|
<p>To uninstall <span class='code'>weewx</span>, removing configuration files but retaining data:</p>
|
|
<p class='tty'>sudo rpm -e weewx</p>
|
|
<p>To remove data:</p>
|
|
<p class='tty'>sudo rm -r /var/lib/weewx
|
|
sudo rm -r /var/www/html/weewx</p>
|
